Setting an example for the young folks

For the eighth year, Grandmothers Against the War is maintaining a weekly one-hour vigil in front of New York City’s Rockefeller Center, chanting, “Bring them back!  From Afghanistan and Iraq!  Stop the killing now!”

The Wednesday vigils began January 14, 2004, and have continued week after week, “with hardly a single break, no matter what the weather threw at us,” said Joan Wile, speaking for the group.

“I am pleading to all grandmothers everywhere,” Wile said.  “Contact me at joanwile263@aol.com with your ideas on how we can create a grandmothers’ movement that will wake up America.

“We know what’s at stake – the future of our children and grandchildren.  We must do all within our power to end these wars and foster a world of peace for them.”
